Show them. Don’t tell them.

I see it again and again. Parents shouting at their kids about eating candies and junk. Hounding them about being on screens all the time, wondering why they don’t go outside and play? Meanwhile the parents are sitting on the couch scrolling tik Tok or some other nonsense social media and eating garbage. Kids don’t do what we say… they do what we do!

As a parent, you want to ensure that your children lead a healthy lifestyle, and that means encouraging them to exercise and eat properly. Not only will this benefit them physically, but it will also have a positive impact on their mental health and overall wellbeing.

One way to get your kids to exercise is to encourage them to participate in weight training. This form of exercise can help build strength, improve bone density, and increase metabolism. Sprinting is another great way to get your kids moving. It helps build cardiovascular endurance and can be a fun way to burn off excess energy.

Loaded carrying, such as carrying a heavy backpack or pushing a weighted sled, can also be beneficial for children. This type of exercise helps build functional strength and improves posture and stability.

In terms of nutrition, animal-based eating can be a healthy choice for kids. Meat, fish, and eggs are excellent sources of protein, which is essential for muscle growth and repair. Incorporating fruits and vegetables into their diet is also crucial for maintaining a balanced and healthy diet.

It’s important for your kids to see you leading a healthy lifestyle as well. Children learn by example, and if they see you prioritizing exercise and healthy eating, they are more likely to adopt those habits themselves. By leading by example, you can inspire your children to live a healthier and more active lifestyle.

Getting your kids to exercise and eat properly is essential for their overall health and wellbeing. Encouraging weight training, sprinting, loaded carrying, and animal-based eating can all help your children build strength, endurance, and a healthy body. Moreover, leading by example is crucial in instilling healthy habits in your children. Start by making small changes in your family’s lifestyle and watch as the benefits accumulate over time.

Parents, get yourself off the couch, get yourself fit. Get your mindset right. LEAD and your kids will follow!
